Matthew J. Kibler is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Canisius College. Matthew majored in Political Science and International Relations, and was a member of the All College Honors Program. Upon graduation, Matthew received the Woodrow Wilson Political Science Award, which is given every year to a graduating student who combines academic achievement with a demonstrated commitment to public service.
He obtained his law degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. While in law school, Matthew was an associate editor for the International Human Rights Law Review. Matthew was also awarded Best Brief in the Charles S. Desmond Moot Court Competition and was elected President of the Buffalo Moot Court Board. Matthew is a member of the Order of Barristers, a national law school honor society. In 2016, County Executive Mark Poloncarz appointed Matt to the Erie County Charter Revision Commission, and in 2017 to the board of directors of the Erie County Stadium Corporation.
Matthew is admitted to practice in New York State and in federal court in the Western District of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
Matthew was honored to be the youngest person elected to the Holland Central School Board of Education when he was 18, and served the interests of the community in that post. He is also an avid martial artist and teaches classes weekly in Isshinryu Karate.
